Law Students

Gislason & Hunter maintains a summer law clerk program for summer associates to join our Mankato and New Ulm offices. We strive to provide “real world” work and to show you what it is like to live and practice in Southern Minnesota. You will have an opportunity not just to see the practice of law in action, but also to meet and get to know our attorneys and staff through a number of planned and impromptu outings. Our summer associates are expected to contribute and assist in reaching our clients’ goals while fully taking advantage of the opportunity to shadow and learn the ropes on how to actually practice law.

“Gislason & Hunter’s Summer Associate Program provides a great opportunity to learn what it is like to work in a high-quality law firm. The attorneys and staff cultivate an excellent work environment and were always willing to help when I had a question. Whether it was about how things worked in the office or regarding a project I was assigned, someone would always take the time to answer and give great advice. Immediately, on the first day of my summer, I was given substantial projects to work on. Gislason made sure I was exposed to many different kinds of assignments and areas of law which helped foster my research, writing, and legal analysis skills. I was not limited to work from just one attorney. Instead, I was able to work with everyone in the office, which allowed me to get a feel for both the areas I would want to practice in and what it would be like working at the firm after graduation.
